Throughout his practice, Danny has represented attorneys in malpractice and racketeering suits, sanctions proceedings, and bar complaints; officers and directors in negligence actions; and psychiatrists in malpractice suits and board of medicine investigations.  Danny also has extensive experience representing insurers and policyholders in coverage and bad faith cases, and has also represented businesses and individuals in commercial litigation and construction arbitration matters, and employers in discrimination and harassment cases.

Recent successful cases handled by Danny include the following:

• Argued and won before the Virginia Supreme Court a decision that upheld the dismissal of claims against a bankruptcy attorney in a case that clarified Virginia law on statutes of limitations in legal malpractice cases.
• Won an insurance coverage case on behalf of an insurer of home builders in the hotly contested area of coverage for construction defects, where a contractor hired to replace a roof was sued for water damage when tarps blew off in a storm.  The court ruled in the insurer's favor on all issues.
• Obtained dismissal in federal court of a fraud suit brought by a federal savings bank against a title company arising out of a four million dollar mortgage loan.  In one of the few published cases to address the issue, the federal court ruled that the savings bank was not a citizen of any state and thus not entitled to sue in federal court on diversity grounds.

Danny frequently teaches continuing legal and insurance education courses on legal ethics, insurance coverage, and malpractice prevention, and was selected as a 2007 Fellow of the National Instutute for Teaching Ethics and Professionalism.  Danny has written numerous articles and contributed to continuing education materials on insurance coverage, legal malpractice, legal ethics and civil litigation topics.  Prior to joining Sands Anderson Marks & Miller, Danny was a partner with the law firm of Schraub, Howell & Company, Chtd.
