Doug Rucker is the immediate past chair of our Business and Professional Litigation Team. His practice is concentrated in contract law and business and professional litigation.
He regularly defends malpractice claims against lawyers, insurance agents, real estate agents and title insurance agents, and has also represented other professionals, such as:

- Security Dealers and Brokers,
- House & Termite Inspection Companies,
- Real Estate Appraisers, and
- Title Insurers
Of the legal malpractice cases Doug has defended since 1986, he has extricated his clients from those cases on summary judgment and other pre-trial motions in over sixty percent of them. In addition, he serves governmental entities and others in condemnation cases and is called on for representation in a variety of cases involving real estate and business disputes.
He has extensive experience in commercial real estate and mortgage finance and represents financial institutions in their financing of, and investment in, office, retail and industrial properties and developments throughout Virginia.
Doug's interests include history and historic preservation. He and his wife Marian live in the Adams-Burton House (circa 1816) in the Historic St. John's District of Richmond.
