Frank Sutherland is a member of the Business, Finance and Real Estate practice group. He focuses his practice on issues of insurance coverage and insurance regulation.

Frank has extensive experience involving all facets of the life health insurance industry including litigation, legislative and regulatory matters in the areas of business and insurance. Prior to joining the firm, he was Vice President and Insurance Counsel at Jefferson Pilot Financial. His  responsibilities included regulatory and government relations, lobbying, market conduct and providing legal advice to department supervisors.

From 1965 to 1968, Frank served on active duty in the U.S. Navy Judge Advocate General Corps and was a reserve officer with the rank of Lieutenant Commander. He has served on numerous state guaranty associations  including, service as Chair of the North Carolina Life and Health Insurance Guaranty Association.  He has been a member of the Association of Life Insurance Counsel since 1982.
