Jack Catlett has over 20 years of legal experience in personal and business planning and litigation.

As a member of the firm's Estate & Tax Planning practice group, Jack works with individuals and businesses across Virginia to help them protect and preserve their estates.  He advises clients of the gift, estate and income tax consequences of their dispositive arrangements and the methods available to efficiently transfer assets to beneficiaries and reduce potential estate or gift taxes including:

  • Wills and Revocable Living Trusts
  • Irrevocable Trusts
  • Estate Planning with Life Insurance
  • Split Interest Trusts
  • Techniques for leveraging the Unified Credit Equivalency
  • Limited Partnerships and other Family Business Entities
  • Charitable Gift Planning and Trusts
  • Probate avoidance techniques

Jack also handles the probate of wills, chancery litigation, and estate administration.

Jack is also a member of the firm's Business, Finance and Real Estate Group assisting clients with real estate transactions and general business related issues and litigation including:

  • Residential Real Estate closings and disputes
  • Title disputes
  • Entity choice and formation
  • Business succession planning

Jack is a member of the Estate Planning Council of Richmond and is a past chairman of the Greater Richmond Chamber of Commerce's Richmond Business Council. He is member of the Board of Trustees for St. Joseph's Villa in Henrico, Virginia, International Association of Restructuring, Insolvency & Bankruptcy Professionals and International Association of Insurance Receivers. In 2007, 2008 and 2009, Jack was listed among the Virginia Business Legal Elite for the Estates practice.
