Mikhael D. Charnoff is a member of the Business and Professional Litigation and Healthcare groups. Mike practices a wide variety of civil litigation including business torts, contract disputes, real estate litigation, legal malpractice defense, and medical malpractice defense.  Mike also handles a range of insurance coverage matters, including well-publicized Chinese Drywall claims.  While Mike primarily practices in Northern Virginia from the D. C. Regional Office located in McLean, Virginia, he has handled litigation in over 35 Circuit Courts throughout Virginia, as well as a number of Maryland Circuit Courts, and all federal courts in Virginia and Maryland.

In addition to successfully taking cases through jury trial, Mike has conducted arbitrations, professional licensure administrative hearings, and both defended and prosecuted other hearings and investigations.  Recently, as widely noted in various publications including the Washington Post, Mike has been involved in fighting frivolous lawsuits by seeking and obtaining sanctions in Virginia Circuit Courts.

Mike's regular clients include regional businesses, real estate purchasers and sellers, and a variety of professionals.  Over the years Mike has represented scores of lawyers, institutional and individual health care providers, and real estate professionals including agents, brokers, appraisers, title companies, and escrow agents.  In 2008 Mike taught a continuing legal education course on real estate litigation, and in 2009 he testified in Fairfax County Circuit Court as an expert on attorneys fees.

Mike worked as a Research Assistant for Professor John Monahan at the University of Virginia School of Law.  He clerked with a Vienna, Virginia-based law firm, which he joined immediately following law school.  Prior to his most recent law firm position in Alexandria, Virginia, Mike served as a law clerk to Judge Frank E. Schwelb in the District of Columbia Court of Appeals.
