Paige Levy is a shareholder of the firm and a member of the Business & Professional Litigation, the Employment and the Healthcare practice groups. She focuses her practice on professional liability defense, employment litigation and counseling and appellate work in Virginia and the District of Columbia.
Paige has significant experience in legal malpractice defense and representing a variety of healthcare practitioners against malpractice claims. She also has substantial trial experience and has prepared numerous appellate briefs submitted to United States Circuit Courts of Appeals. Paige regularly serves as local counsel in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, also known as the "Rocket Docket." Paige routinely counsels employers on personnel issues involving federal and state law, including drafting, revising and commenting on personnel policies and procedures.
Paige's representation experience includes:
- Obtained a defense verdict in a trial defending a psychiatrist against malpractice claims arising out of the suicide of a 34-year old patient. The issues involved applications of psychopharmacologic principles, as well as treatment decisions in a managed health care environment.
- Obtained a directed verdict in a case involving a breach of fiduciary duty claim against a Virginia attorney. The case was pending in three federal courts for approximately seven years and, prior to trial, obtained summary judgment on fraud claim.
- Obtained summary judgment in favor of employer in case alleging race and gender discrimination under Title VII, Section 1981 and the Virginia Human Rights Act; on appeal, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit affirmed.
- Obtained a defense verdict in a trial defending a pediatric cardiologist in a case alleging a failure to timely diagnose an intracardiac tumor in an eight-year old patient who suffered a sudden death.
- Obtained a defense verdict in a legal malpractice case involving an attorney's alleged failure to properly advise a client of the effect of settlement of a third-party products liability action on pending workers' compensation benefits.
