Pierce Rucker is a member of the Healthcare practice group and President of the firm. He also serves as a member of the firm's three-person management team on the Board of Directors. He has been practicing law for over twenty years. He focuses principally on defending doctors, nurses and public/private hospitals against medical malpractice claims.

Pierce has worked as an operating room technician at Johnston-Willis Hospital in Richmond. During this time he learned not only the intricacies of human anatomy and the techniques employed in general, gynecological, neurological, orthopedic, thoracic and vascular surgery, but the workings of a major metropolitan hospital as well. This unique experience has given him an insight into the practice of medicine not shared by many lawyers.

Pierce has been lead counsel in numerous jury trials involving medical malpractice claims. He has also appeared before and served on numerous medical malpractice review panels and acted as an arbitrator in several medical malpractice cases.

Pierce has written and lectured extensively in the areas of medical malpractice and healthcare risk management. He has served on the firm's Board of Directors. He is listed in Best Lawyers in America, on the Virginia Business magazine's Virginia "Legal Elite" and in the 2006 and 2007 Virginia Super Lawyers.
