Diversity Initiative
Since its founding in the 1850’s in Richmond, Sands Anderson has relied substantially on the locally available human resources, both before the Bar and in supporting roles, to assemble its team. We recognize that in today’s legal services market, we must concentrate much more intentionally on making our opportunities known to a diverse pool of applicants. Therefore, our current strategic plan requires that we assertively seek to bring candidates of widely differing backgrounds, cultures and abilities to the firm as potential members of our legal practice teams, as well as among the ranks of our legal support and administrative professionals.
We have established a Diversity Committee to work towards the goal of achieving greater diversity in the firm. It is chaired by Terrence L. Graves, who also holds the vice-chair position in our Risk Management practice group. The other members of the committee are: Margaret F. Hardy, Phyllis C. Katz, Brian R. Pitney and Janet M. Broadway.
Sands Anderson Marks & Miller is an active member of the Richmond Legal Diversity Alliance and we participate in the Mid-Atlantic Black Law Students Association Job Fair and the Virginia Bar Association Diversity Job Fair.
