Adapting Your Personnel Practices To Recent Changes In The FMLA And ADA

January 2009 brought dramatic changes in the Family and Medical Leave Act and the Americans With Disabilities Act.  Amendments to the Americans With Disabilities Act took effect on January 1, 2009 and reversed several Supreme Court rulings and significantly broadened the potential scope of the Act.   On January 16, 2009, the new U.S. Department of Labor regulations  on the Family and Medical Leave Act became effective.  These regulations substantially modify the way human resources directors must manage Family and Medical Leave issues.   In this seminar, attorneys from Sands Anderson will offer insights and direction concerning best practices that should be followed to meet the challenges and requirements of these major legislative changes.

You will learn:

  • How amendments have broadened the scope of the ADA.
  • Why the duty of reasonable accommodation has become even more critical.
  • How FMLA now imposes stringent obligations for notification of rights and responsibilities.
  • Why it's even more important to keep accurate and timely leave records.
