RICHMOND, VA --- Steve Baril, a long-time trial lawyer in Virginia, has joined the Business and Professional Litigation team, firm President M. Pierce Rucker said today."Our firm is delighted that Steve has decided to bring his considerable gifts as a litigator and leader to our group representing businesses throughout the state and in federal courts," explained Rucker.
Baril has over twenty-five years of experience litigating complex and "bet the company" matters for businesses throughout the mid-Atlantic. He was most recently chair of the Complex Business Litigation team at Williams Mullen, where he served as counsel in the Blackberry patent infringement case and many other crucial business litigation matters.
Baril is a recognized leader in the Richmond business community. Over his career, he has become known as a lawyer businesses call when they have a dispute.
"Steve Baril is a top-notch courtroom advocate and significantly deepens our bench for clients who need sophisticated and strategic advocacy in serious legal matters," added Jeffrey H. Geiger, chair of the Business and Professional Litigation practice group.

Over his career, Baril has also been deeply involved in public service and politics. He is currently on Governor Robert McDonnell's Economic Development and Jobs Creation Commission, where he chairs the New Business Recruitment Committee. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Greater Richmond Partnership and the Greater Richmond Chamber of Commerce. He is treasurer and board member of the Richmond's Future think tank and a member of the Executive Council of the Executive Committee of Venture Richmond.
Baril graduated Phi Beta Kappa and summa cum laude from Hampden Sydney College. He earned his law degree at the University of Richmond School of Law, where he was a member of the McNeill Society, Law Review and Omicron Delta Kappa.
