Sand Anderson Attorney Elected to James River Development Corporation Board of Directors

RICHMOND, VIRGINIA (August 8, 2003). Sands Anderson Marks & Miller, P.C., one of Virginia's oldest and largest law firms, congratulates Douglas P. Rucker, Jr. on his appointment as vice chairman of the board of directors for the James River Development Corporation ("JRDC"). JRDC is a private, non-profit corporation, which serves existing and prospective small businesses within the counties of Charles City, Goochland, Hanover, Henrico, James City, New Kent, Powhatan, York and the City of Richmond.
JRDC helps provide long-term, fixed asset financing to those businesses, thereby, stimulating economic growth and expansion by retaining or creating jobs, increasing local tax bases, and expanding business ownership opportunities within the designated service areas. It has participated in the financing of approximately $100 million in expansion projects for local businesses since 1987.
Rucker is a shareholder and a member of the firm's three-lawyer management team. He focuses his practice on business, real estate and professional litigation, has extensive experience in commercial real estate and mortgage finance, and represents financial institutions in their financing of, and investment in, office, retail and industrial properties and developments throughout Virginia. He received his undergraduate degree from Hampden-Sydney College in 1968 and earned his Juris Doctorate from University of Virginia School of Law in 1972.
