(June 1, 2005) --- Sands Anderson Marks & Miller's Radford Office reported that on May 25, 2005, the Treasurer of the City of Radford received a total of $48,696.56 as a result of a delinquent real estate tax sale handled by the law office of Sands Anderson Marks & Miller. The sale was conducted on May 10, 2003. The sale was attended by approximately 40 people with 26 active bidders.
Persons who claim an interest in the surplus from the sale of these properties are required to come forward and make a claim for surplus funds within two years of the confirmation of the sale by the Circuit Court. Pursuant to Virginia statute, if surplus funds are not claimed, they are relinquished to the locality.
