Substance Abuse Issues in the Workplace
Registration is closed for this event.
Substance abuse remains a major workplace issue. A recent study showed that 15 million illicit drug users hold full time jobs and many are in safety sensitive jobs. Illegal drug use and heavy alcohol use create problem employees who have a high rate of absenteeism, poor performance and high job turnover. Policies that include drug and alcohol testing have proven effective. This seminar will provide substantive information on the legal issues relating to establishing effective workplace policies and procedures that reduce the costs and risks associated with impaired employees. We'll also cover the requirements for medical and disability leave, and entitlements to workers' compensation and unemployment compensation.
