Have the EEOC's Selection Requirements Changed?

Registration is closed for this event.

The Supreme Court decision. Long standing employee selection procedures were significantly questioned in the recent decision, Ricci v Stephano.  Concerned with the disparate impact that written and oral promotional tests had on blacks and other minorities, the City of New Haven decided not to use the test results administered in the fire department.  Although the City followed the regulations of the EEOC, the firefighters successfully challenged the City's actions as reverse discrimination.

This program is a must for anyone who oversees the hiring and promotion of employees. You will learn:

  • The expansive implications of the Court's ruling on accepted employment practices
  • The types of selection criteria that may be valid under Ricci
  • The importance of validating employment criteria
  • Steps to take when selection procedures have disparate impact

Sands Anderson's team of employment attorneys will be on hand to answer questions that arise from the program.
