Bowden is an avid cyclist who regularly makes the approximately twenty mile round trip to his downtown office by bicycle. He recently began an online group called Greater Richmond Bike Commuters on the LinkedIn.com professional networking site where enthusiasts can converse and share information and cycling tips. He is also a pro bono General Counsel for Cycor Sports, a local cycling club.
BikeWalk Virginia is a state-wide advocacy and education, non-profit organization promoting biking and walking for transportation, recreation, health, and fun, according to Board Chairman Richard Elder. One of their first initiatives was marshalling public support of bike trails development in the state. Among their activities are Webinars on safety, activity and public policy issues and the annual Bike Virginia cycling tour held in June.
Bowden has extensive experience spanning corporate law, venture capital, public finance, private equity, real estate development and commercial litigation. His practice has included work in real estate tax credits and tenant in common syndications, as well as public and private corporate securities. He earned his AB in Economics with honors at Princeton University and then earned his J.D. from University of Pennsylvania Law School and his M.B.A. at the Wharton School of Business, completing both degrees simultaneously.
