L. Lee Byrd, chair of the Business and Professional Litigation practice group at the law firm of Sands Anderson Marks & Miller, has been elected to the firm's Board of Directors, board member Benjamin W. Emerson announced today.Byrd, elected Wednesday by the shareholders for a three-year term, joins Emerson and M. Pierce Rucker on the firm's management team.

Byrd joined Sands Anderson in 1992 and was invited to become a member of the firm's shareholder owners in 1998. In 2001, he took the reins of the business litigation team, a group of twenty-one attorneys spread across the firm's five offices. He earned his J.D. at the College of William and Mary School of Law and his B.A. at the University of Virginia.
Byrd's legal practice focuses on complex business disputes, including commercial lease, insurance, franchise, and employment disputes, business tort, breach of warranty, banking and other U.C.C. claims, and breach of contract cases. His cases frequently involve assertions of officer and director liability, breach of fiduciary duty, unfair competition, fraud and business conspiracy.
