Russell LawsonRICHMOND, VIRGINIA--Andrew R. McRoberts, former county attorney for Goochland County, has joined the Local Government practice at the law firm of Sands Anderson Marks & Miller, P.C., President M. Pierce Rucker announced.
"Andrew has a remarkable background in local government law and legal issues, including service as President of the Local Government Attorneys of Virginia, and we are sure that he will make a significant contribution to our growth in serving local governments in Virginia and North Carolina," said Rucker.
McRoberts recently completed eight years as the county attorney for Goochland, where he earned plaudits for his careful guidance of land use, tax assessment and special utility districts matters through the Board of Supervisors and courts including the Virginia Supreme Court. His appointment in Goochland followed on his successful work as county attorney in Culpepper County and assistant county attorney in Arlington County. McRoberts earned his A.B. at the College of William and Mary and his J.D. at the University of Richmond's T. C. Williams School of Law.
"I am excited to continue serving local governments in this new way. Sands Anderson's growing local government practice group is perfect for the next stage of my career." said McRoberts.
"Our team is incredibly pleased to welcome Andrew, where we expect his experience in land use and tax matters for local governments to be in high demand by our clients given the soft economy and revenue shortfalls affecting nearly every locality," added Daniel M. Siegel, chair of the Local Government practice group.
