Russell LawsonPittsylvania Board of Supervisors Receive Additional Funds collected on Delinquent Taxes from Sands Anderson Marks and Miller
RICHMOND, VIRGINIA (July 18, 2006)...James E. Cornwell, managing shareholder for the New River Valley office of Sands Anderson Marks & Miller, located in Radford, will present the Pittsylvania County Board of Supervisors with checks totaling $141,843.36 in recovered delinquent real estate taxes at the July 18 board meeting in Chatham, reports firm President C. Thomas Ebel.
This is the second payment of collected funds presented to the County. On January 3, 2006, Mr. Cornwell presented the Board with checks totaling $208,363.85. "This brings the total that we have disbursed to Pittsylvania County for delinquent real estate tax collections to $350,207.21. Our fees and costs are paid for by the property owner in addition to the amount of taxes, interest, penalties and fees due to the County. We began representing Pittsylvania County just about a year ago and we are pleased with the continued success of our attorneys and staff with regards to the collections for Pittsylvania County," said Cornwell.
"We hope that the citizens of Pittsylvania County appreciate our efforts to insure that all pay their fair share of taxes to the County and that those owning real estate in Pittsylvania County who have delinquent real estate taxes will come forward to resolve the delinquencies before we move forward to sell real estate for unpaid real estate taxes. We expect a sale to occur within the next 60 to 90 days," he explained.
Attorneys and staff who currently work in the Radford location will relocate to Blacksburg as of July 31. Clients of the firm include counties, cities, government agencies and municipal authorities throughout the state, large international insurance companies and regional carriers, hospitals, nursing homes and health care professionals, local companies, business executives and other individuals.
