(October 10, 2005)---Sharon E. Pandak, an attorney in the Local Government practice, will be among the faculty of the 38th Annual Conference of the Virginia Governmental Finance Officers Association on Thursday, October 20, 2005, in Richmond.
Pandak, who served for fifteen years as county attorney for Prince William County until departing for private practice last year, will speak on "Exploring the Attorney Side of Risk Management", which will cover the diverse roles and work of a local government attorney, how to minimize liability for a locality, and provide insight into litigation of claims.
Pandak's law practice focuses on governmental issues including risk management, governance, land use, zoning, assessments, conflicts of interest and ethics. Additionally, she advises clients on complex litigation and is able to represent local government clients in legislative issues before the General Assembly. She is a nationally recognized speaker and advisor in local government matters, and was the recipient in 2002 of the American Bar Association's Nelson Award for her distinguished service in the public sector.
