RICHMOND, VIRGINIA (June 9, 2006)… Sands Anderson Marks & Miller's Spring Employment seminar for private sector companies in the Southwest part of the state received significant attendance with about two dozen HR directors, supervising managers and business owners, who convened on April 19 in Blacksburg.
In a half-day seminar at The Inn At Virginia Tech and Skelton Conference Center, co-sponsored by the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce and the Radford Chamber of Commerce, presenters Mark Caldwell, Phyllis Katz, Sarah Kirby and Reid Broughton of the firm’s Employment practice group discussed the best practices to avoid a discrimination lawsuit and the pitfalls that can trap you into one, Family and Medical Leave Act regulations, and updates in the Fair Labor Standards Act, COBRA and military leave requirements. One participant stated, “All speakers displayed a great deal of knowledge about their topics and conveyed that information in an easy-to-understand format. Great job!”
