Jayne A. Pemberton, an attorney with the Risk Management practice group at Sands Anderson Marks & Miller, was honored last month by Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Virginia for her mentoring and volunteer efforts, group chair Terrence L. Graves announced recently.
The Big Sister of the Year recognition was presented to Pemberton at the December 1st the Big Brothers Big Sisters Christmas Breakfast. She was paired with her mentee, Shani, in 2003, when the child was in elementary school. Over the last four years, Pemberton has been Shani's role model, cheerleader, coach and educational advocate. Pemberton was elected to the organization's Board of Directors in 2006.
"Jayne's diligent service to her ‘little sister' and as a member of the Board of this worthy organization is characteristic of her compassion and spirit," said Graves. He noted that the firm encourages community service among its attorneys and employees.
Pemberton has been a member of the Risk Management team for the last two years, and has six years of experience before the Virginia State Bar. Her practice is focused on insurance litigation, toxic torts and other complex civil actions.
