Randy Wimbish Recognized by American College of Trial Lawyers

Carlyle R. (Randy) Wimbish, III, chair of the Healthcare practice group at the law firm of Sands Anderson PC, was inducted as a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers on Saturday, March 6, 2010, at their meeting in California, firm President M. Pierce Rucker announced today.

"The lawyers and staff of Sands Anderson take immense pleasure and a great deal of pride in Randy's accomplishment, which depends on both nomination by other Fellows in the College and a career marked by skilled court room advocacy,  unimpeachable ethics, and unparalleled civility, all hallmarks of Randy's career," said Rucker.

Since graduating from the University of Virginia Law School in 1990, Wimbish has spent his entire legal career at Sands Anderson, rising to lead a team of thirteen healthcare attorneys defending doctors, hospitals and other health professionals in litigation throughout Virginia and North Carolina.

"I decided at the age of thirteen that I wanted to be a trial lawyer," said Wimbish, "and I am deeply honored to be recognized for my work by this important group of my peers."

"However, my success would not have been possible without the opportunities and training that I received as a young lawyer at the firm, and the fantastic support that I continue to receive from the attorneys, paralegals and staff on our Healthcare team," he explained.

The American College of Trial Lawyers, founded in 1950, is composed of the best of the trial bar from the United States and Canada.  Fellowship in the College is extended by invitation only, after careful investigation, to those experienced trial lawyers who have mastered the art of advocacy and those whose professional careers have been marked by the highest standards of ethical conduct, professionalism, civility and collegiality.  Membership in the College cannot exceed 1% of the total lawyer population of any state or province.

Founded almost 160 years ago, Sands Anderson has 74 lawyers practicing among its offices in Richmond, Christiansburg, Fredericksburg and McLean, Virginia, and the Research Triangle of North Carolina. In 2010, it was ranked 8th in the Virginia Lawyers Weekly annual listing of the state's largest law firms. Sands Anderson provides a full range of legal services to corporations and businesses, healthcare providers, financial institutions, state and local governments, the insurance industry and individuals.
