Matthew Green is a highly experienced trial lawyer who serves as a trusted advisor to in-house attorneys, state agencies, local government clients, and insurers. Matt has sat first chair in 24 jury trials in state and federal courts across the Commonwealth. A native of Virginia, Matt offers his clients a deep understanding of Virginia Law. His familiarity with the reputations of specific courts and jury pools enables him to judiciously navigate localized legal outcomes with seasoned perspectives. Matt’s jury trial experience includes multiple federal courts in both the Eastern District and Western District as well as Virginia state courts in localities as diverse as Arlington, Charlottesville, Covington, Emporia, and Richmond.
In addition to his trial experience, Matt has participated in over 100 mediations including over 25 federal settlement conferences. He is well-versed in the uniquely accelerated litigation approach of the Eastern District of Virginia’s “rocket docket” where he has served as local counsel to multiple Am Law 100 firms.
Matt has experience with a wide variety of complex litigation matters including breach of contract, business torts, professional malpractice, product liability, and wrongful death. His education law experience includes matters under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and Title IX. He also has defended the rights of School Boards to set education policies for their districts.
Persistent and driven, he enjoys applying his talents to help his clients gain coverage initially denied to them. Further, his personal injury-related capabilities include mediating multiple cases involving traumatic brain injury. Should clients seek legal guidance for product liability claims, he can foster successful outcomes, drawing from his diverse experience that includes recreational vehicles, tainted food claims, and more.
Prior to law school, Matt was a Small Business Advisor in the United States Peace Corps stationed in Honduras. He has also trekked across Central America, South America, Europe, and the Indian Subcontinent.
