Remembering Frank “Bunky” Miller
Sands Anderson is saddened to announce the passing of Frank “Bunky” Miller, a retired legacy name partner of the firm. Mr. Miller, who was 88, died on February 2, 2026.
Bunky’s career at the firm spanned more than four decades. He joined Sands Anderson in 1962 after graduating from the University of Virginia School of Law and built a long and respected career in litigation. His judgment, work ethic, thoughtfulness, and dedication to clients and colleagues made him a trusted leader within the firm.
In 1975, the firm became Sands Anderson Marks and Miller, recognizing Bunky’s role in its development and the strength of his contributions. He set a high standard for written work and believed that excellent preparation and clear communication were essential to serving clients well.
Throughout his career, Bunky remained active in the legal community, including service as President of the Virginia Association of Defense Attorneys, involvement with the Virginia Bar Association, and membership in the Boyd Graves Conference where he played a role in developing the Guide to Evidence in Virginia. He was also elected a Fellow of both the American College of Trial Lawyers and the Virginia Law Foundation.
Bunky retired from Sands Anderson Marks and Miller in 2006, leaving a lasting impact on the firm and the broader legal community.
“Bunky Miller was a pillar of this firm for over forty years,” said Jeff Geiger, president of Sands Anderson. “His contributions to our practice and to Virginia law will not be forgotten. We are honored to have had him as a partner and colleague.”
