Jamie Heisler Ibrahim
As a member of Sands Anderson’s School & Education law team, Jamie represents primary and secondary schools throughout Virginia in special education, Title IX, and other education matters. She relies on decades of combined experience as an education attorney, university administrator, university academic advisor, and corporate defense litigator to serve the complex needs of her public school division clients.
Having worked on behalf of both educational institutions and students and/or their parents, Jamie approaches education law conflicts with an understanding of both sides. She uses this knowledge to build consensus and resolve conflicts as quickly as possible, believing that education matters are an opportunity for schools to work with students and their families to help the students reach their full potential.
When compromise cannot be reached, however, Jamie is an experienced litigator whose experience in state and federal court and in administrative proceedings allows her to advocate strongly for her clients' interests.
In addition to her work with public school divisions, Jamie counsels private colleges and universities on their disciplinary and Title IX matters. She has first-hand experience with higher education institutions having served as an Assistant Dean of Students and the Founding Director of a pre-law academic advising center at a large research university earlier in her career.
Outside of the office, Jamie can be found watching her daughters’ soccer and field hockey games. She’s also an avid traveler and Notre Dame football fan.
Practice Areas
“I enjoy the challenge of identifying the goals, motivations, external limiting factors, and even emotional status of the parties to any legal conflict. Understanding what is driving the parties’ decisions can often help me facilitate conflict resolution for my clients.”
