As a healthcare lawyer, Scott counsels long-term care providers, hospitals and hospital systems, physicians and physician groups, and other healthcare organizations on the regulatory and administrative law issues that impact their businesses.
Scott’s experience extends to regulatory certificationssurveys, Certificates of Public Need, insurance reimbursement matters, and Virginia DHP investigations. His varied legal experience and broad perspectives enable him to offer clients unique solutions tailored specifically to address their individual challenges.
In addition to his healthcare work, Scott also has worked on a variety of real estate matters, including negotiating short sales.
When not in the office, Scott enjoys spending time with his family, playing and watching sports, particularly soccer, and completing home improvement projects.
Advised multiple long-term care providers in regulatory compliance and risk management matters including responding to regulatory certification surveys and deficiency citations and navigating the applicable appeals process.
Guided and advised providers through the Certificate of Public Need application and/or opposition processes.
Represented healthcare providers and organizations in responding to federal and commercial insurance reimbursement and federal cost report audits.
Represented licensed healthcare providers in Virginia Department of Health Professions investigations and Formal and Informal Conferences.
Negotiated multiple short sales and handled issues such as pending bankruptcy of the property owner, unpaid liens, and additional requirements placed on the short sale due to federal loan programs.
