Kennedy A. Eagle
Kennedy provides school leaders and staff with clear, practical guidance that allows them to focus on serving students while managing the legal and operational challenges of running a public school.
She counsels Virginia school divisions on a wide range of education law matters, including special education, student discipline, and compliance with federal and state regulations. Her experience includes representing school divisions in due process hearings and advising school divisions on special education complaints with the Virginia Department of Education.
Before joining Sands Anderson, Kennedy clerked for the Honorable Robert W. Trumble, United States Magistrate Judge for the Northern District of West Virginia, where she managed the civil docket, drafted opinions, and worked extensively on discovery disputes. She also gained direct experience with school divisions as a law clerk in the Office of Division Counsel for Virginia’s second-largest public school division and as a law clerk at Advocates for Justice and Education in Washington, D.C.
These experiences, combined with her family's deep roots in public education, give Kennedy a personal connection to the mission of public schools and an understanding of the real-world challenges facing school leaders as they work to serve students.
In her free time, Kennedy enjoys exercising, curling up with a good book, experimenting in the kitchen, and playing video games.
