Sands Anderson Elevates Two Attorneys to Counsel in 2026
RICHMOND, Va. (January 5, 2026) – Whitney E. Nelson-Crawford and Adam B. Winston have been promoted to the position of Counsel at Sands Anderson PC, according to firm president Jeff Geiger. Both have been associates at the firm.
Whitney Nelson-Crawford advises public school divisions and governmental employers on the day-to-day legal challenges that surface when operating public bodies. Her practice spans education law and labor and employment matters, where she helps companies and governmental employers understand employment laws and navigate complex workplace issues. She received her undergraduate degree from Western Connecticut State University, her master's of education from Salem State University, and her law degree from the University of Richmond School of Law.
Adam Winston helps governmental entities, public officials, administrators, and staff navigate a broad spectrum of litigation and governance matters. His practice includes land use and zoning matters, particularly those tied to the rapid expansion of data centers, where he has developed experience with issues at the intersection of local policy, regulatory compliance, infrastructure, and energy. Winston also drafts briefs and presents arguments before both the Virginia Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court of Virginia. He received his undergraduate degree from the Ohio State University and his law degree from the University of Richmond School of Law.
