Montgomery helps businesses and property owners resolve disputes, manage risk, and protect their operations. He works closely with clients to address commercial challenges with practical, business-focused solutions.

Montgomery takes a strategic, business-minded approach to litigation. He evaluates each dispute with a focus on cost, risk, and client goals. Drawing on his trial experience, he works to resolve issues as early as possible while positioning clients for success in court as needed.

His practice focuses on commercial and business litigation in state and federal courts. He represents middle-market and closely held businesses in disputes with other companies, vendors, contractors, and customers. He also advises multifamily property owners and property management companies in landlord-tenant matters and fair housing litigation and defense.

Montgomery guides clients through every stage of a dispute, from pre-litigation strategy to trial. In addition to his commercial litigation practice, he has experience handling premises liability, product liability, and professional liability matters. Before entering private practice, he served in the North Carolina Attorney General’s Office, where he defended state agencies in tort claims litigation and assisted with appellate matters.

Outside the office, Montgomery enjoys traveling with his wife, playing tennis in USTA leagues, challenging opponents in chess, and following economics and business news and podcasts.
