Virginia Lawyers Media announced Sands Anderson’s former Firm President, M. Pierce Rucker, is a member of the Class of 2021 for the “Virginia Lawyers Hall of Fame.”

Rucker and seven other members of the Class of 2021 are being honored posthumously.

Pierce retired from Sands Anderson at the end of 2016 after four decades with the Firm. Over his career, he served as President and practiced in the Healthcare Group. Pierce was a standout attorney who dedicated his practice to defending doctors, nurses, and public/private hospitals against medical malpractice claims. He was also an active mentor and natural teacher who loved his practice and seeing younger lawyers develop.

The Virginia Lawyers Hall of Fame, sponsored by Virginia Lawyers Weekly, honors Virginia lawyers age 60 and older. Criteria for inclusion in the Hall include career accomplishments, contributions to the development of the law in Virginia, contributions to the bar and to the commonwealth at large and efforts to improve the quality of justice in Virginia.
