Three Sands Anderson Attorneys Hold Leadership Roles in Local Women's Bar Group

Published on: 9/16/2008

RICHMOND, VIRGINIA -- Three lawyers from the firm of Sands Anderson Marks & Miller are currently serving on the Board of Directors for the Metropolitan Richmond Women's Bar Association, firm President M. Pierce Rucker reported today.

Jayne A. Pemberton is Vice President and an officer. Margaret F. Hardy is Chair of the Judicial Candidate Endorsement Committee. Robin A. McVoy is co-Chair of the Public Service Committee. Elections and Board appointments were completed last May and the first Board of Directors meeting was on September 3, 2008.

"The firm's Board of Directors is pleased that these lawyers are involved leaders in this important professional organization," Rucker said. "Bar groups are always in need of the service of committed volunteers, and the firm has a deep and long-standing tradition of giving our time and talent to advance the legal profession," he pointed out.

All three lawyers have significant trial practices among state and federal courts. Pemberton is a member of the Risk Management practice group and handles premises liability and other tort defense. Hardy and McVoy are both members of the Healthcare practice group and defend medical professionals before regulatory bodies and in malpractice litigation.

Founded nearly 170 years ago, Sands Anderson has 70 lawyers practicing among its offices in Richmond, Christiansburg, Fredericksburg and McLean, Virginia, and Raleigh, North Carolina. In 2011, it was ranked 11th in the Virginia Lawyers Weekly annual listing of the state's largest law firms. Sands Anderson provides a full range of legal services to corporations and businesses, healthcare providers, financial institutions, state and local governments, the insurance industry and individuals.
