RICHMOND, VA--Stephen V. Durbin, Ruth T. Griggs, Elizabeth L. Gunn, and David L. McKenzie have earned promotions to Counsel status at the law firm of Sands Anderson PC, firm president L. Lee Byrd has announced.
"These fine attorneys are progressing positively in their careers, and their work and skills are consistent with Sands Anderson's strategic plan at both the firm and group levels," said Byrd.
Durbin is a member of the firm's Government Group and works in the Southwest Virginia Office in Christiansburg. His practice focuses on a wide variety of local government issues, including enforcement actions, regulatory matters, zoning and land use issues, and economic development. He earned his J.D. degree from the William and Mary School of Law and graduated from Denison University with a B.A. degree in Philosophy and a minor in Political Science.
Griggs is a member of the Healthcare Group and focuses her practice on defending medical professionals and practices from claims of malpractice, and advising on malpractice coverage issues. She is based in the Richmond office of the firm. Griggs earned her J.D. at George Mason University School of Law, cum laude; has an M.B.A. from Golden Gate University; and earned her B.A. from Villanova University.
Gunn is a member of the Business Group and its Creditor's Rights and Bankruptcy teams. She focuses her practice on representing closely held businesses and their owners and executives, as well as individuals with complex financial situations. She is based in the firm's Richmond office. Gunn earned her J.D. cum laude from Boston College Law School and her undergraduate degree in Politics and Economics cum laude from Willamette University.
McKenzie is a member of the Business & Professional Litigation Group. He focuses his practice on general civil litigation, intellectual property law, cyberlaw, entertainment and art law, unfair competition, constitutional law, appellate law, and land use matters. He is based in the Raleigh, North Carolina, office. He earned his J.D. at North Carolina Central University School of Law, his B.A. at Carson-Newman College, and his M.Div. at Duke University
