Robin A. McVoy has been selected as this year's recipient of the Virginia Federation of Humane Societies' Bravo Award, firm president M. Pierce Rucker reported recently."Robin's energetic engagement and advocacy on behalf of the mission of the Federation is a worthy community service initiative and we are proud that her dedication has earned this outstanding recognition," said Rucker.
According to the Federation, the Bravo Award "is presented to an individual who has demonstrated a commitment of outstanding service to promote animal welfare, who has been instrumental in making an impact within an animal welfare organization, and who is a reflection of the values and standards set by the Virginia Federation of Humane Societies."
McVoy's legal practice is focused on healthcare issues, including defense of malpractice claims among health professionals. She is a member of the Healthcare Practice Group and a founding member of the firm's Animal Law team. Her legal experience includes defending veterinary malpractice claims, representing individuals in various animal-related litigation, and providing pro bono legal services to local animal rescue and welfare organizations.
McVoy's undergraduate degree in biology was earned at Loyola University and she has worked in medical and scientific research, neurobiology at Georgia State University and molecular genetics at Emory University. She is a magna cum laude graduate of the University of Richmond School of Law and came to the law firm first through their Summer Associate program.
