Brian Muse focuses his practice on counseling, mediating, arbitrating and litigating matters involving employment issues such as discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and wage and hour claims. He has also successfully litigated business tort matters involving non-competition agreements, non-solicitation agreements and corporate trade secrets in multiple states and jurisdictions. Brian has extensive experience representing businesses in federal lawsuits alleging violations of the Americans with Disabilities Act's Public Accommodation and Access requirements.
He counsels employers to assist them in avoiding litigation and governmental investigations. This includes providing onsite training and seminars related to anti-discrimination and anti-harassment policies as well as drafting and reviewing employment contracts and handbooks. He is also a member of the firm's Affordable Care Act team, which focuses on helping employers of all types and sizes successfully implement changes currently and soon-to-be required by the nation’s unprecedented healthcare reform initiatives.
Brian is a is a board member of the Peninsula Chapter of Virginia SHRM (Society of Human Resource Management) serving as chair of the Government/Legal Affairs committee. He is listed among the "Legal Elite" by Virginia Business magazine in Labor/Employment, 2012-2014. He is recognized as a Virginia Super Lawyers Rising Star by Law & Politics magazine for Employment & Labor, 2010-2015.
Brian earned his law degree from College of William and Mary, Marshall Wythe School of Law in 2001. He served on the editorial board for the William & Mary Law Review from 2000–2001. Brian earned his undergraduate degree in American government graduating with distinction from the University of Virginia in 1998.
